Why Did Apple Screw Me?
Stupid Apple, they took my idea. Blatantly. I created the iPod SuperCase, www.maneeshsethi.com/ipod and then they took my idea, and now they are creating their own iPod socks.
I hate them.
Compare the superCase

with Apple's Socks

So who is the real winner? Not the consumer.

What's with all the new computers?
These days, I've been noticing a whole bunch of people buying a whole bunch of nice computers. One of my friends at school, in fact, is saving up a whole bunch of money so he can buy some new $500 ATI video card. I've been listening to all of this, and all I can ask is "what the hell?"
I have 3 computers right now, two PCs and one laptop. One of them runs linux, which means that I keep in in command line most of the time, so I use it for almost nothing other than to store files. My other PC used to be amazing. I bought it with top of the line parts, an amazing graphics card and incredible speakers. My laptop, on the other hand, is a piece of crap. It is 300 Mhz. It has no 3d graphics capabilities at all. It is old, and has only 6 gigs of hard drive space.
Guess which computer I use the most. The laptop.
You probably know I wrote a book on game programming, which means I play games. Well, guess what? My old computer, which is about 2 or 3 years old, plays Far Cry and Doom 3 quite well. Sure, not at the highest settings, but who really needs to play at 1600x1200 resolution? For most people, 1024x768 looks just fine.
You can build a very decent computer for $400, and the computer will play UT2K4 or whatever else you feed it now. Sure, in 3 years, it might not be sufficient, but that is the beauty of paying less-it is cheaper to spend $400 every three years than $2000 every 5. But people still do it.
Learn that games aren't the only thing a machine can do. Web browsing and email take a lot less memory than games, and that is all that most people use computers for. Yet, a lot of people who will never play a game in their life are spending $1500 to get a computer from Best Buy.
Give me a break, which person who doesn't play games really cares if their computer is .8Ghz or is 2.5. None.
